Art + Technology

Technology for the art world.

I work across two worlds: creating contemporary art and building technology. The connection is simple: both are ways of solving problems, creating experiences, and making ideas real.

My experience inside studios, galleries, exhibitions, product teams, and technology gives me a perspective that does not fit neatly into one category. That is the point.

Fernando Fula is my art identity; Joseph Fula is my technology identity. Two professional names, one person.

Two practices. One perspective.

The Art Practice

What I create.

As Fernando Fula, I create contemporary figurative work exploring identity, memory, pressure, perception, and the instability of the human experience.

I understand the art world because I am part of it.

Artists and galleries often do not need a large agency or a full-time technology team. They need someone who understands how the art world actually works and can translate a real-world problem into the right technical solution.

My art practice gives me first-hand experience with exhibitions, artwork presentation, promotion, artist workflows, gallery relationships, digital catalogs, websites, and the practical challenges of maintaining a creative career. My technology background gives me the ability to build systems that can make those things work better.

The goal is not technology for technology’s sake. The goal is to make technology useful to the people making, showing, and supporting art.

Exhibition Workflow App

Copley Society of Art, Co|So

I designed and built a custom data-management app for an arts organization to streamline its exhibition workflow. The tool converts artist submissions into jury files, website-ready uploads, and team checklists while automatically matching artist IDs. It replaces hours of repetitive spreadsheet work with a faster, more accurate, and fully local process.

Website Strategy & Brand Messaging Refresh

Art + Studio Advisory

For this client project, I completed a full website and brand presentation review focused on improving clarity, professionalism, and overall business positioning. The work began with a content audit of the client’s existing website, messaging, and related presentation materials to identify opportunities for stronger alignment, clearer communication, and a more polished user experience.

I provided copy and content recommendations, refined messaging and page structure, assisted with approved website updates, and completed a review round to ensure the revised content felt cohesive and professional.

I also supported the launch process by helping prepare the updated website to go live, creating a basic FAQ page, assisting with the placement of privacy, terms, and cookie-related language or tools using client-provided information, and providing launch-related social media copy to help introduce the updated brand presentation.

Artist Availability PWA

Western Avenue Studios & Lofts

Built a Progressive Web App for Western Avenue Studios & Lofts to help artists easily toggle whether their studio is open or closed during events like Open Studios. Western Avenue is one of the largest artist communities in New England, home to nearly 400 artists, making real-time studio visibility especially valuable for visitors navigating the building. The app was designed to support both artists and visitors by making studio availability easier to update, manage, and view from any device. Artists can quickly log in, update their studio status, and keep information current, while visitors get a clearer way to discover which studios are open.

Artist, gallery, studio, or arts organization: if something technical is slowing you down, confusing you, or keeping an idea from happening, send it my way. You do not need to know what the solution is yet.
